A total of 130 community residents from Biao, Guianga, and Tugbok were recipients of the initiatives of the College of Health Sciences Education's 𝐂𝐇𝐒𝐄 𝐔𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐘: 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲, featuring “Protektado: A Seminar on Immunization and Maternal-Child Health."
Held last Mar. 6, 2026, the program achieved its full target, making the activity a significant community-based effort in promoting health awareness and access to healthcare services.
At the center of the morning program was “𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨: 𝐀 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥-𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡,” where the beneficiaries engaged in discussions on immunization, maternal and child health, nutrition, affordable nutritious meals, and healthy feeding practices. The seminar incorporated interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and pre- and post-assessments to reinforce health knowledge and encourage active participation among community members.
The afternoon session complemented the seminar with a 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, bringing together different healthcare disciplines to provide accessible services to the community. The Nursing students assisted with history taking, vital signs assessment, and BMI measurement. The Medical Technology students conducted Random Blood Sugar testing and blood typing, physicians provided consultations, and Pharmacy students assisted in dispensing prescribed medications and explaining their proper use.
