UM`s TanUM Nano Tech Solutions Triumphs in the 2025 Mindanao-Wide Technology Transfer Conference at CarSU
Innovation once again shone through as the University of Mindanao`s (UM) TanUM Nano Tech Solutions emerged victorious at the 2025 Mindanao-Wide Technology Transfer Conference hosted by the Caraga State University (CSU) in Butuan City. The promising startup secured 1st Place in the Pitching Competition and 2nd Place in the Poster Competition, marking a milestone achievement for the team and for UM as the only private Higher Education Institution (HEI) represented in the summit.
TanUM Nano Tech Solutions presented a ground breaking product designed for soil monitoring and fertilizer dosage recommendation, addressing the critical needs in agriculture through technology-driven solutions. The team was led by its "Hustler-" Marcy Nil Ogsoc, a Chemical Engineering student, with the "Hacker-" Windel Andan from the Electronics Engineering program, and the "Hipster-" Aaron Jalapon from the Computer Science Program. Their efforts were guided by advisers Engr. Ramiro Emerson Amon and Engr. Jetron Adtoon, with valuable support from Ms. Dyle Legaspi of UM`s Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) and also from the UMasenso Hub, the Technology Business Incubation Facility of the University.
The team`s win underscores UM`s growing reputation in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. By combining engineering expertise with practical solutions, TanUM Nano Tech Solutions demonstrated how student-led startups can shape the future agriculture and technology transfer in Mindanao and beyond.
