The University of Mindanao – College of Hospitality Education (UM-CHE), together with its partner community, the Bagobo Tagabawa Tribal Community in Catigan, Toril, Davao City, conducted a coffee tree planting activity on June 10, 2026.
The initiative aimed to support the long-term sustainability of the tribal community, in which coffee production is a primary source of livelihood. By planting coffee trees, the activity contributes to environmental conservation while helping strengthen the community’s economic opportunities for future generations.
UM-CHE remains committed to extending meaningful support to its partner communities, especially IP communities, through programs that promote sustainable development, empowerment, and community engagement.
This activity supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). It also reflects the University of Mindanao’s core values of Teamwork, Gawi, and Gawa through collaborative action and service to the community.
