UM CEE EMBARKS ON FIRST EVER INTERNATIONAL FIELD TRIP TO THAILAND
The UM College of Engineering Education’s (CEE) Electrical and Mechanical Engineering programs conducted its first ever international field trip in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 18 to 23 this year.
This international field trip consists of industry visits to Thailand’s production companies and a campus tour at one of UM’s partner schools.
During the first day, the team visited the Ichitan Group Co., Ltd., a Thai beverage company that manufactures a variety of drinks. They witnessed the production of Green Tea Honey Lemon, which produces about 6 billion bottles per year.
Earlier, the team had a campus tour at King Mongkut’s University of Technology, Thonburi (KMUTT), where they benchmarked with the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Laboratories department. Afterwards, the two programs went to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) at the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. Lastly, they also made their way to learn with representatives from the Yakult Industry in Ayuthaya, Thailand.
International field trips open doors to real-world learning, enriching students’ professional exposure and equipping them with global insights essential to thriving in their chosen fields. These experiences not only deepen academic understanding but also build cultural competence and networks that are vital for future career success.
